Google will release its new Chrome browser-driven laptops in June, Chromebook.

Co-found Sergey Brin has hailed these new laptops as a "new model of computing".  Acer and Samsung will be the first manufacturers to put these devices on sale initially in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the USA.

Google’s intention is to encourage people to use web-based applications, most-notably its Chrome browsers.

The leading search engine claim the battery will last a full day, security updates will be done automatically and they claim to be faster than traditional laptops.

Google’s tagline for their Chromebook laptop is "Nothing but the Web", and is solely optimised for web purposes.
