On Wednesday, Twitter rolled out a new survey tool which it will initially provide to a number of its biggest advertisers for free, with the view to making the more widely available in the future.

How It Works

A Tweet will appear in some users’ timeline asking to take a survey.  If the user clicks on the Tweet, the message expands within their timeline and begins a short series of questions.

The American firm Nielsen, which specialists in measuring media audiences will work with Twitter to analyse the results.

Twitter hope that they will be able to use this feature to help advertisers optimise their campaigns and to help convince them they are getting their money’s worth.
