On May 26th, European privacy laws on the use of cookies come into force in the United Kingdom to allow people more control over what data websites gather about them.

Websites need to be sure their cookies comply with the law, said the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

The document to be issued by the ICO as guidance to firms ahead of the May 26 deadline remains “work in progress”.

Third-party cookies, used by advertisers to track users are likely to be particularly problematic to review.
