At the moment, I'm seeing some strange quirks in Google's sitelinks display, most noticeably, odd replacement of English characters with (at a guess) Japanese characters, e.g. with the following for a site with sections for UK regions:

I'm not sure of what type of programming bug could result in this happening, but I wonder if this tells us anything about Google's processes?

Does anyone know what the characters above actually represent? The best I can do is searches like this
