Apple to Launch New Music Social Network

Apple's latest version of iTunes, iTunes 10 will include not only a new logo and layout, but also Apple's very own social network for music.

"It's like Twitter and Facebook meet iTunes" said Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Ping as it is called, allows users to follow others in the same to Twitter. You can follow artists and/or your friends to find out what they are listening to or what they are generating. Apple's social network has song and album charts, 17,000+ concert listings, a news feed, and is available to over 160 million iTunes users. Ping will be available for desktop versions as well as on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

iTunes 10, which is required to access Ping is currently available for download.
