Google Encouraging TV Show Owners to Tag Videos

Google is pushing TV show owners/providers to start tagging their online videos with new fields that are available for both video sitemaps and mRSS feeds.

Specific data for identifying the show/series title, season, episode number, debut date and more can be added in the new fields.  The full code can be found on Google’s blog post.

The opening sentence of their blog post begins with “If your website is the authoritative source for the video of a particular TV show, make sure we know about it!”  But there appears to be nothing to stop other sites posting unofficial TV show episodes using the code.
