Google Hit by 50+ Virus-Infected Apps

Google has withdrawn more than 50 applications from the official Android Marketplace after they had been found to contain a virus.

Studies suggested these malicious applications were carbon copies of existing applications that had been repacked containing a virus code.  They may have been downloaded up to 200,000 times.

As well as removing the apps from the Marketplace, Google has also suspended three accounts being used by the developed behind the virus-laden applications.
