Google to Start Charging for Directions Location Extensions

Google has announced it will start charging for searchers clicking on the directions of the location extensions founds on some of their AdWords ads.

The Location Extensions feature adds an address and phone number to your Google AdWords ads.  Previously, clicking on the Directions option cost the advertiser nothing.

Google will now “begin to charge for clicks on directions in the same manner as clicks on your ad’s headline or phone number”.  Therefore, if you do not want to be charged for clicks on driving directions, you must now remove your Location Extensions.
