Say Goodbye to the Typewriter

Joining another recently-discarded technology, floppy disks (although still on display as the Save Icon in Microsoft Word), as of today the typewriter will no longer be produced anywhere in the world.

The final company to produce typewriters, Godrej and Boyce has now shut down its production plant in Mumbai, India, according to the Metro.

Apparently Godrej and Boyce had 500 left in stock as of this morning in case you want to purchase one of these landmark items in hope they’ll be worth something on eBay in time.

This one time office mainstay was first produced over 100 years ago, and hit the peaks of its production in the 1950s.  But thanks to technology advancements, such as the personal computer and laptops, the typewriter had become just a distant memory in modern time.

How will my mother write her letters now?  With a pen I presume...
