Xbox 360 Kinect into Guinness World Records

The Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360 sensor system has gone into the Guinness World Records as the fasting-selling consumer electronics device on record.  More than 10 million copies of the product have been sold.

The Kinect sold an average of 133,333 units per day, totalling 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011.

The sales figures outdo both Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

Kinect is a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” infrared camera device for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 games console.  It enables users to interact with the games console without the need of a game controller.
