Yahoo! to launch GPS service

Yahoo! has announced details of a new service with global positioning satellite (GPS) company Dash Navigation that will allow users to search for products and businesses while driving their cars.

Under the service, thought to be an industry first, the Dash Express will connect to the internet via a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

When consumers enter a term onto the product, Yahoo!'s Local search will draw up a list of nearby results and then using GPS technology, will provide directions on how to get there.

Paul Levine, general manager of Yahoo! Local, said: "Yahoo! is committed to providing innovative ways to help consumers find relevant information when, where and how they want it."

According to Search Engine Watch, advertisements from local businesses are set to be advertised on the Express.

Yahoo! claims to be a leading online brand and is one of the most visited websites on the internet.

The Dash Express is set to be launched in American later this spring.
