Baby boomers an 'untapped market'

The baby boomer generation is a market that the web has left largely untapped, according to the founder of the popular jobs website Monster.com.

Speaking to Business Week, the entrepreneur and founder of Monster.com, Jeff Taylor, said that though there are few websites catering to boomers specifically, the potential of the market is huge.

Taylor's latest creation is Eons.com, a website that one has be 50 or older to join and encourages baby boomers to live the fullest life possible, defined by Taylor's phrase of "let's live to be 100 or die trying".

"I think there is room for a big brand in this space", Taylor said.

There are now 20 million people in Britain aged 50 or over, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS)

Employment rates for people in their 50s in Britain have risen by over seven per cent in the past decade, says the ONS.
