Figures released by Nielsen//NetRatings claim that around three billion internet searches were carried out using Google during November - accounting for 49.5 per cent of the total amount of searches.
The market leader also saw searches last month increase by 31 per cent compared to the same time last year.
Yahoo! was the second most popular search engine, making up 1.5 billion, nearly a quarter of all web searches made in America.
However, MSN saw its year-on-year searches fall by 12 per cent, as it made up 8.2 per cent of the total market.
Nielsen//NetRatings claims to be the world leader in internet audience measurement and online advertising intelligence.
Earlier this month, Google launched a new search service that will allow users to browse seven million patents granted in the US patent and trademark office on items such as the golf club and merry-go-round.
