Companies wishing to increase their online revenue via viral marketing campaigns could be advised to consider creating a microsite, a new set of figures indicates.
Research conducted by MarketingSherpa reveals that 37 per cent of internet marketers had produced "excellent results" after creating a miniature website to promote a particular product or service, reports WebProNews.
Meanwhile, about three out of ten advertisers claimed video clips were useful in driving revenue, with online games advocated by a third.
The study also indicated that about two-thirds of marketers questioned claimed they are set to use online video advertising over the course of 2007.
However, David Hallerman, senior analyst for eMarketer, warned: "Reliance on viral video, rather than making it just one element for getting the message out, will succeed only in rare cases."
Earlier this year, Greg Jarboe, from the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation, advised companies to use a variety of online marketing technique such as email advertising and search engine optimisation to increase traffic.
