Reports have surfaced that Facebook have raised funds from Goldman Sachs and a Russian investor in a deal value the social network site at $50bn (£32.3bn).
An article in the New York Times said that Goldman Sachs was investing $450m, and Russian investment firm, Digital Sky Technologies another $50m.
The paper stated the terms of the deal implied a value for Facebook of just over $50bn. This means Facebook is worth more than the country Belarus ($49.04bn GDP). Facebook does have a greater population than Belarus, with over 500 million users.
