'Retweet' Added to the Oxford Dictionary

‘Retweet’ is amongst the latest 400 words to be added to the newest Concise Oxford English Dictionary.

"These additions are just carrying on the tradition of a dictionary that has always sought to be progressive," said OED editor Angus Stevenson.

Other notable modern and technology-related words being added to the next edition include:

Cyberbullying
Sexting
Textspeak
Woot

Noun
a reposted or forwarded message on Twitter

Cyberbullying

Sexting

the sending of sexually explicit photographs or messages via mobile phone

Textspeak

noun
Language regarded as characteristic of text messages, consisting of abbreviations, acronyms, initials, emoticons, etc.

Pronunciation:/wuːt/
exclamation
used to express elation, enthusiasm, or triumph
