Bio: Dixon Jones

Managing Director, Receptional Internet Marketing.

I founded Receptional with Dr. David Smith in 1999 but was active in search engine optimisation for a few years before then in a previous business - running Murder Mystery parties. At that time, Alta Vista and Inktomi were kings of the engines and Google was more a less an idea in a university thesis I remember my first SES conference. I was in the bar trying to meet Danny Sullivan (as was everyone else). Rumour has it that in the corner, by the bar all on his own was Sergei Brin – who was ranked as the 26th richest man in the world in 2006 by Forbes. Talked about a missed opportunity.

Still, talking to people I DID know has not been a total disaster. I am a regular speaker at SES, Ad-tech and Pubcon conferences and I am also a moderator on Webmasterworld where I moderate Microsoft’s Adcenter and Live search forums and also the tracking and logging forum.

Here are some things about me: 

Degree: BA(Hons) from Brunel University(where I was also the Student Union President) 

I live: In the Bedfordshire countryside on the outskirts of London with my wife and two children. 

My best speaking engagement (so far): Reykjavik,Iceland (although I am looking forward to being a keynote speaker in Vilnius, Lithuania.)
