URL optimisation can improve search results

URL optimisation can improve search results
Optimising URLs can help internet marketers boost search rankings, it has been suggested.

Writing on All Media Scotland, David Bain advised that including keywords in page titles could help search engine bots find websites easily, creating more "entrance paths".

He suggested that: "This will reduce the reliance on your website being found through search engines solely through a single set of keywords on one page."

Mr Bain added that marketers should look to implement keywords into all website pages including PDF and image files.

However, as with other areas of search engine optimisation, he warned that "there is a grey line between under-optimising and over-optimising" keywords in URLs.

Marketers were advised to use a two or three-word phrase only once within a URL to avoid search rankings being "demoted".

Earlier this month, David Szetela, founder of ClixMarketing.com, claimed advertisers should ensure that keywords "yell" in an attempt to attract searchers.
