'US online ad market set to reach $19.5bn'
Figures released by eMarketer suggest that in the next 12 months America will spend $19.5 billion (£10 billion) in the sector – an increase of 19 per cent from last year.
The internet analyser claimed: "This rate of growth is sharply down from the 30 per cent or more that has been the norm for several years."
However, eMarketer added that the general shift towards internet marketing is set to maintain "its heady momentum".
Video advertising, online retailing and social networking websites such as MySpace were also set to see increased spending growth during the next 12 months, the study indicates.
Claiming to be "the first place to look" for market research, eMarketer analyses internet trends from over 2,000 sources.
Meanwhile, Britain's Internet Advertising Bureau claimed that 2007 is set to be a "monumentous year" for the online marketing sector.
