Yell launches PPC advertising
Advertisers wishing to further target audiences by their interests and location are set to be able to take advantage of pay-per-click (PPC) advertising on Yell.com.

Under the move, firms' PPC advertisements are set to be embedded within the main search rankings and will be displayed above standard listings.

Head of marketing Ian Bowen-Morris claimed the move would help "our service in business areas where we know people want the choice of local or online business".

"In today's marketplace businesses need demonstrable return on investment for their communications campaigns," he added.

As a result of the service, users searching for companies within a specific location will receive relevant local results, which could mean advertisers are more likely to attract those genuinely interested in the products and services on offer.

Advertisers will be able to specify a budget and the duration and "daily intensity" of their campaigns.

Meanwhile, Yell.com is also to offer banner advertising, allowing companies to "purchase highly targeted or wide reach display advertising".

Earlier this month, Terry Detty wrote on Promotion World that internet audiences are more likely to click on banner adverts related to the area they are searching for.
