Dixon is well respected in the Search Marketing community, having set up Receptional in 1999 after identifying the importance of Internet Marketing for modern industry. As one of the founding fathers of the search engine marketing industry in the UK, Dixon regularly participates as a speaker and moderator at major Internet conferences around the world including SMX; SES and Pubcon. He is also a moderator at WebmasterWorld.

Dixon's degree is in Maths and Management Studies and he previously wrote and ran Murder Mysteries for a living before selling the business at the turn of the Millennium. He still sells a few of his original games online. He is a dedicated family-man, but still finds time to play online chess (badly, he says) and in good weather drives a very orange Kit Car.
