Five AI tools iGaming marketers are quietly using to outperform their competition

I’ve spent the past few months testing and trialling AI tools, venturing out far beyond ChatGPT. Here are five that are genuinely changing how we work in gaming marketing. They’re affordable and robust and give savvy marketers a real advantage. Here’s my list – and how we’re using them to get results.

Narrowing it down

The world is flooded with AI tools. New ones appear every week, and it’s overwhelming. So, how do you choose what’s worth your time? I look at it in three layers:

  1. I start by focussing on personal productivity – tools that make you better at your job. If you’re new to AI, these can help you understand how AI works (and how it doesn’t).
  2. As your skills develop, consider your business operations – how your team works together.
  3. As your skills develop, consider how AI can help with product delivery – how you serve your customers. You have more room to experiment when working with colleagues rather than clients. And you need to be most careful – and skilled – when using AI to make changes that affect clients.

Each layer builds on the one before. Master the personal tools first, then scale to team processes, then enhance your customer-facing work.

When testing tools, I also focus on three things:

  1. Impact (does it make a real difference?)
  2. Ease of use (can people actually use it?)
  3. Value (is it worth the money?)

These five tools stood out.

You might expect to see ChatGPT on the list. It’s a great starting point, the tool that opens people’s eyes to what’s possible. But ChatGPT is commonplace, so I’ve selected tools that solve problems creatively.

Let’s start with one that’s already changing how we work…

  1. Fathom

My first suggestion is a tool called Fathom, an AI meeting recorder platform that has transformed how we handle meetings.

What it does

It allows all our team members to quickly and easily send meeting notes with timestamps of discussion points. There is no manual note taking.

It doesn’t sound groundbreaking, but we have many client calls, and it saves enormous time and effort.

We tested several tools in this space: Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, and Zoom. Fathom stood out because of the quality of the transcription and, better, the summary.  It doesn’t just record; it understands.

Here’s what you get:

  • A clean transcript of the meeting
  • A properly digestible summary
  • A Q&A section that pulls out the key points.

At £19 per user per month, it’s about the price of a decent lunch in London.

Why it matters

It’s a great time saver. Let me ask you: how much time would you spend writing up meeting notes each week if you were doing it rigorously?

Of course, the AI makes errors occasionally. But here’s the critical question: are there fewer mistakes than a human might make? Is it better or worse? It’s undoubtedly more rigorous. It makes mistakes, but certainly fewer than I would when taking notes manually.

Though, of course, it needs human oversight. Every AI tool should have a human in the loop.

2. Claude: Your strategy partner

My second pick is Claude. Think of it as ChatGPT’s more capable cousin but with a real talent for writing and strategic thinking. At £20 a month, it’s transforming how we approach marketing challenges.

What it does

What makes it special is the ability to create ‘Projects’. You can give Claude access to your key documents – strategy papers, brand guidelines, market research – and it will become a knowledgeable partner in your planning.

Here’s how I use it: I’ve created what I jokingly call my ‘co-CEO’. It has access to Receptional’s vision documents, strategy papers and reporting. I’ve asked it to act as an MBA-qualified consultant, and we use it to:

  • Shape strategy: Before management meetings, I test ideas and look for gaps in my thinking
  • Write presentations: It helps structure complex information in ways that resonate with different audiences
  • Draft internal communications: It captures our tone while keeping messages clear and purposeful

We’ve used it for everything from writing our 2029 vision (covering team structure, services, and growth plans) to planning website updates. I even use it to improve my LinkedIn content – not churning out posts but reworking our internal insights into valuable updates.

Why it matters

The real power of Claude.ai isn’t in what it writes but in how it methodically sorts through the information. It spots connections you might miss and asks questions that sharpen your thinking. For marketing leaders juggling multiple priorities, it’s like having a savvy, strategic writing partner always ready to help.

3. Google Gemini: Your research powerhouse

My third pick is Google Gemini, specifically its ‘Deep Research’ feature. While Google was late to the AI party, they’re making up for lost time with something special.

This one’s a bit hidden – you must log into Gemini and choose Deep Research. But it’s worth finding because it transforms how you tackle market research.

Here’s what it does

Give it a topic, and it will search, read, and analyse hundreds of articles in minutes – not just skim them, but understand them. Then, it pulls everything together in a clear, usable report.

Let me give you an example. I asked it to research the AI tool landscape for marketers and make recommendations. Traditionally, this would mean days of reading, making notes and trying to spot patterns. Instead, I gave Gemini a brief. It searched 204 articles, analysed them, and produced a comprehensive 2,500-word report with clear recommendations. Time taken? About four minutes.

But here’s what makes it powerful for iGaming marketers. Imagine researching:

  • New market opportunities
  • Competitor strategies
  • Regulatory changes
  • Player behaviour trends

Why it matters

You’re not just saving time – you’re making better decisions because you can process more information. It’s like having a research team that never sleeps.

The best part? In January 2025, Google announced that Gemini would be included in your existing Google Workspace subscription.

4. Google Notebook: Your virtual marketing expert

Our fourth recommendation takes knowledge management to another level. Google Notebook is like having a dedicated marketing specialist who’s absorbed everything your company knows.

What it does

Here’s what makes it different; you can feed it up to 50 sources. Whether that’s videos, audio files, PDFs, documents, or presentations, it understands them all. Once it’s processed your materials, it becomes an expert in your world.

The possibilities for iGaming marketing are fascinating:

  • Want to train new team members? Notebook can turn your existing materials into study guides and create proper quizzes to test understanding. No more death by PowerPoint.
  • Need competitive insights? Upload competitor emails, landing pages and ad copy, and it will spot patterns in their messaging and strategy. It’s like having an analyst working around the clock.

One feature that delighted me is its ability to turn written content into natural-sounding podcasts. Two AI hosts discuss your key points, and – here’s the clever bit – you can ask them questions during the show. They respond as if you’re part of the conversation.

Why it matters

For busy marketing teams, this solves real problems:

  • Getting new staff up to speed quickly
  • Keeping everyone aligned on strategy
  • Making complex information more digestible
  • Understanding competitor approaches

Think of it as your marketing team’s collective brain, ready to share knowledge in whatever format works best.

5. MidJourney: Your creative superpower

Our final pick is transforming how we create marketing visuals. While there are many image tools out there, MidJourney consistently produces the highest-quality work. At £30 a month, it gives our designers creative superpowers.

Let me put this in perspective. Before MidJourney, producing creative might mean booking a studio, hiring models, setting up lights – weeks of planning and significant cost. Now, with AI, we can create professional visuals in minutes.

What it does

This matters for iGaming. At Receptional, we’ve used it to create:

  • Eye-catching sports betting ads for major tournaments
  • Fresh casino imagery that stands out
  • Engaging social media content for US sports
  • Dynamic slots and table game visuals

Why it matters

The results? We’re seeing better engagement rates and can test different approaches quickly. When a major tournament is coming up, or a new slot game needs promoting, we’re not held back by production constraints or compliance issues.

One note of caution: while the tool is affordable, getting the best results means having someone with design skills write the prompts and edit the output. This isn’t about replacing designers but giving them a powerful new tool.

For challenger brands especially, this is game-changing. You can now run creative campaigns that match anything the industry giants do, but at a fraction of the cost.

Five tools reshaping iGaming marketing

There you have it – five tools that are changing how we work:

  1. Fathom ensures no good idea gets lost in meetings, turning conversations into actionable plans.
  2. Claude thinks strategically, helping shape better marketing decisions and sharper communications.
  3. Gemini researches tirelessly, processing more information than any human team could manage.
  4. Google Notebook becomes your marketing brain, making your team’s knowledge instantly accessible.
  5. MidJourney gives you creative freedom, producing professional visuals that would once have needed significant budgets.

The complete stack costs about £100 a month. But the real investment isn’t money, it’s time. You gain time to learn, experiment, and find what works for your team.

Notice how we’ve built from personal productivity through to client-facing work. That’s deliberate. Start with tools that make you more effective, scale to team collaboration, then enhance your customer-facing marketing.

And start small. Pick one tool that solves a specific problem, get comfortable with it, and build from there. The teams seeing the best results aren’t necessarily using the most tools – they’re using a few tools very well.

Remember, we’re all still learning. The key is to start now, while these tools are new, and the competitive advantage is real.
