Five fresh insights to boost your nursery marketing

You know your nursery inside out. But do you know what today’s parents are really looking for? We asked 421 UK parents about their nursery search. Here’s what we learned:

1. Mums and dads feel differently

Mums often feel more stressed about choosing a nursery than dads. Our study shows:

  • 35% of mums feel overwhelmed
  • Only 17% of dads feel the same way

What you can do:

  • Give mums plenty of details to ease their worries
  • Show dads the exciting things their kids will learn

2. Parents take their time choosing

Picking a nursery isn’t a quick decision. Parents spend about 2.6 months looking around, some take even longer:

  • 27% of parents spend 4 months or more choosing

What this means for you:

  • Keep in touch with parents over a long period
  • Share different kinds of info as they make up their minds

3. Parents want the full picture

These days, parents want to know everything about your nursery:

  • 59% want to know all about your services
  • 48% want clear info about prices

How to give parents what they want:

  • Write in detail about how you teach and care for kids
  • Be open about your prices, even if you can’t provide an exact figure – context helps.

4. Good and bad reviews both matter

You might think only good reviews are important, but that’s not true:

  • 63% of parents trust nurseries more when they see both good and bad reviews

What you can do:

  • Ask all parents for honest feedback
  • Reply politely to all reviews, even the not-so-good ones
  • Show how you’re always trying to get better

5. Old-style adverts don’t work well

Not many parents look at traditional adverts anymore:

  • Only 14% of parents use newspaper or magazine ads to find nurseries

What works better:

  • 73% of parents ask their friends
  • 68% read online reviews
  • 45% look on Facebook

This means you should focus on:

  • Getting happy parents to spread the word
  • Encouraging online reviews
  • Being active on social media
