The last couple of days of January are here, and that means it’s almost time for the Six Nations to get underway once again. February is one of the biggest months of the year for the Rugby union betting market, with so many different options for punters to put a wager on.
Which of the six teams will walk away with the trophy this time? And do the current teams of Scotland or Italy have the resources to stage a major upset in 2025?
With the first weekend of matches almost here, the betting markets have already started gearing up for just over a month of fierce activity. Thanks to the tournament’s round-robin format, there is always the potential for some major movement within the odds each week. Every single match has the chance of being pivotal in determining who walks away with the title this year.
At the time of writing, the odds clearly favour either Ireland (9/5) or France (2/1) to emerge victorious from the scrum. But England’s squad are also considered strong contenders and will certainly be looking to extend their run as the nation with the most wins since 2000.
Wales may have almost as many Six Nations wins as England (six to their seven) but their chances of lifting the trophy are not ranked very highly this year, currently sitting at fifth in the odds.
Bettors don’t just focus their attention on the top of the table, with plenty of other categories seeing just as much action. An event like the Six Nations has a wealth of chances for upsets and drama, which will keep the markets busy until the very last match.
Other categories worth focusing on include:
And, naturally, there is also lively betting on which of the six teams will finish at the bottom of the pack. Unsurprisingly, Italy remains the odds-on favourite to take the wooden spoon once again, having never finished above fourth place in the 24 years since they joined the tournament.
All of these active betting markets give bettors and bookmakers alike many opportunities to engage with the Six Nations as it plays out on our screens. For the next five weeks, every single match and try will have an impact and drive fluctuations in the odds.
Still, a few key fixtures to keep an eye on are:
—
As some of the fiercest rivalries in the Rugby world heat back up, there’s a lot of potential to drive engagement in Six Nation odds and betting. The tournament represents a significant slice of the Rugby union betting market, with this year’s competition set to be another intense and volatile one.
