Seven smart ways to market your nursery in 2024

Running a nursery is hard work. Marketing it shouldn’t be.

Our team of industry specialists have done some digging to find out what works when attracting parents. Here are seven clever ideas based on what 421 UK parents told us:

1. Think long-term

Parents take their time choosing a nursery – 2.6 months on average; some take even longer.

What this means for you:

  • Keep in touch with interested parents over time
  • Send helpful info at different stages of their search
  • Don’t push for a quick decision

2. Use video to show off your nursery

Parents love seeing what goes on inside a nursery. In fact, 57% of parents say videos help them choose.

Try these ideas:

  • Make a virtual tour of your nursery
  • Show a typical day for a child
  • Record short clips of fun activities

    3. Be clear about your prices

Nearly half of all parents (48%) want to know about costs upfront. Please don’t make them guess.

    How to talk about money:

    • Where possible, list your fees clearly on your website
    • Explain why it’s challenging to provide an exact price.
    • Where you can, let readers know what’s included in the price. Mention any extra costs there might be

        4. Encourage and share parent reviews

Reviews are gold dust for nurseries. 68% of parents say they rely on them when choosing.

        Here’s what to do:

        • Ask happy parents to leave reviews
        • Share the best reviews on your website and social media
        • Thank parents for their feedback, good or bad

          5. Get active on Facebook

Nearly half of all parents (45%) use Facebook when looking for nurseries. It’s a great place to connect with them.

How to make the most of Facebook:

          • Post regularly about life at your nursery
          • Share helpful tips for parents
          • Respond quickly to messages and comments

            6. Tell your nursery’s story

Parents want to know what makes your nursery unique. Show them with great content.

            Ideas to try:

            • Write about your teaching approach
            • Share stories about your staff
            • Post photos of children’s artwork (with permission, of course)

              7. Tailor your message for mums and dads

Our research shows mums and dads often feel differently about choosing a nursery:

              • 35% of mums feel overwhelmed by the process
              • Only 17% of dads feel the same way

              What you can do:

              • Give mums plenty of reassuring details
              • Show dads the exciting opportunities for their kids
